Coordinator, Entrepreneurship Programs  

 

BACKGROUND:

The Life Science Washington Institute (LSWI) is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization whose mission is to provide support to life science entrepreneurs and start-up companies via educational, economic and other resources crucial for their success. We work to ensure life science entrepreneurs have access to the mentoring and resources they require to start and grow their companies. Life Science Washington Institute is an arm of Life Science Washington (LSW), an independent, non-profit 501(c)(6) trade association serving the life science industry in the State of Washington.

 

Reporting directly to the LSWI Director of Entrepreneurship, the Coordinator of Entrepreneurship Programs will participate in the development, execution and day-to-day management of any and all programs, products, services, events, event-related support and agreements as assigned by the Director. This position will work closely with LSWI and LSW team members to deliver on organizational goals and objectives. In addition, this position may be responsible for external relationships with companies, research institutions and other organizations whose mission is complementary to that of LSWI, as assigned by the Director of Entrepreneurship.

 

 

PRIMARY DUTIES:

  • Helps plan and execute educational seminars, formal workshops and meetings related to SBIR/STTR, health economics, start-up boot-camps and any other programs as assigned
  • Assists with maintenance of an online digital resource center for startups
  • Assists in the development and execution of LSWI participation in high-profile events, roundtables, and panel discussions
  • Assists in communications and logistics (catering, badge printing, room reservations, etc.) for all entrepreneurship program meetings, activities and events
  • Assists with the programmatic needs of the entrepreneurial support programs of LSWI, including scheduling meetings, ordering catering, communicating with mentors, program participants, and consultants, and tracking metrics
  • Assists in the development, update, improvement and maintenance of all entrepreneurship program collateral, and communications via web, email, blog and social media
  • Attends and contributes to internal LSWI and LSW meetings, relevant external committee meetings, conference calls, and entrepreneurship events as appropriate
  • Represents LSWI and the interests of the life sciences in WA state at relevant networking and educational events, and plays an active role in recruiting participants
  • Tracks ongoing activities and reports results; helps prepare internal and Board updates, as needed
  • Supports the LSW Membership team on all major signature events as requested, for example by securing participants for all aspects of Life Science Innovation Northwest.
  • Develops, maintains and coordinates marketing collateral and company participation in LSWI/LSW Venture Investment and Partnering (VIP) Forums.
  • Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS/QUALITIES

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Science, Business, Communications or a related field
  • Strong project management skills with demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, set priorities within tight timelines and meet deadlines
  • Exceptional communication skills, both orally and in writing, for both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Self-motivated and able to work without significant supervision
  • Exceptional customer service attitude, and conflict management skills
  • Able to grasp new concepts quickly of both technical, life science topics and administrative task management
  • Proficient using the latest version of Office 365
  • Familiar with Salesforce, WordPress, Acrobat Pro, Eventbrite, and SurveyMonkey desirable
  • Extraordinary attention to detail and organization
  • Highly effective interpersonal skills that include the ability to work collaboratively in a matrixed, team environment
  • Creativity, ingenuity, initiative, flexibility and a helpful, can-do attitude are essential

EXPERIENCE

  • 2 years of related experience in project management, small event planning, and communications
  • Experience and/or advanced education in technology transfer, life science entrepreneurship, life science product development or commercialization preferred but not required
  • Experience in an external facing position highly desired

 

SALARY: Compensation dependent on experience; includes salary and competitive employee benefit package.
