SEATTLE – Sept. 5, 2017 Life Science Washington, the state’s life science trade association, announced today that David P. King, chairman and CEO of LabCorp, will keynote the Governor’s Life Science Summit that will be held Oct. 20 at the Meydenbauer Center in Bellevue, Washington.

LabCorp is a leading global life sciences company, deeply integrated in guiding patient care. With a mission to improve health and improve lives, LabCorp delivers world-class diagnostic solutions, brings innovative medicines to patients faster and uses technology to improve the delivery of care. Expanding its reach in the Pacific Northwest, LabCorp recently completed its acquisition of Pathology Associates Medical Laboratories (PAML), based in Spokane, Washington.

“We are thrilled to have an industry leader of Dave’s stature as our keynote speaker this year,” said Life Science Washington President & CEO Leslie M. Alexandre, DrPH.

“Dave not only leads a dynamic company with broad global impact on patient care, but he also has deep connections here in our community, including distinguished service on the boards of PATH and the Seattle Science Foundation. His keynote address offers a unique opportunity to hear his insights on industry challenges and the strategic decisions he has pursued at LabCorp, including in the area of personalized medicine, which is a key focus in our region.”

Prior to becoming CEO in 2007, King served as LabCorp’s executive vice president and chief operating officer. Previously, he led the company’s US LABS/Esoterix division, one of the nation’s leading specialty testing and cancer diagnostic laboratories.

“I am always delighted to return to the Pacific Northwest, where I have both deep business and family connections,” said King.

“Washington state is a leader in many areas that are important to me personally and to LabCorp, including addressing global health priorities and advancing powerful new diagnostics for a wide range of diseases and conditions. Together, we are poised to make major strides in life sciences and global health in the years to come, leading to better outcomes for patients around the world.”

The Governor’s Life Science Summit brings together hundreds of leaders from Washington’s life sciences community, as well as public officials, to celebrate industry successes, discuss key challenges and look forward to the future of the industry in Washington state and beyond.
