Life Science Washington (LSW) is a 501(c)(6) non-profit trade association with a 20+ year history of supporting Washington state life science companies, research institutes, and partner organizations through advocacy, collaboration and investment.



Receptionist/Administrative Assistant


Reporting to the Vice President, Finance & Administration, the Receptionist/Administrative Assistant provides general office coordination and operational support and is the first point of contact for members either by telephone or visiting the office.



Database Management

  • Online database management to maintain accurate records, add contacts and add new members
  • Event Registration including database registration, print & assemble badges, prepare materials prior to and after event
  • Reprint and restock all printed marketing collateral in office
  • Maintain record keeping/filing systems as requested


  • Serve as first point of contact with Life Science Washington guests through general phone line, welcoming guests, and problem-solving to forward questions to the appropriate staff member
  • Notify building security daily of visitors to office for the next day
  • Meeting preparation: greet guests, copy & collate materials, post signage, prepare coffee, order refreshments or lunches, clean-up and other tasks as requested

General Office Support

  • Maintain the lobby, kitchen, supply room and conference rooms to be orderly and well stocked with supplies
  • Keep the staff informed of general office management/maintenance issues
  • Incoming and outgoing mail preparation, whether by USPS, FedEx, or UPS
  • Order and restock office supplies and maintain office equipment
  • Run errands as requested
  • Maintain emergency supplies and update emergency plan as needed
  • Update office for new staff members; mailbox label, voicemail tree, contact list
  • Perform a wide variety of supporting tasks for co-workers in all areas of the organization
  • Under general supervision, follow standard office procedures and establish priorities and deadlines
  • Maintain high level of professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality in all interactions


  • A bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 2 years of related experience, or high school graduate with 5+ years of receptionist/administrative assistant experience within a professional environment
  • Strong writing, editing and proofreading skills are essential; attention to details is a must
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task, set priorities within tight timelines and meet deadlines
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Effective interpersonal skills that include the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, team environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office – Outlook, Excel, Word and database programs
  • Flexibility, a helpful, can-do attitude, and a sense of humor are essential!

Working conditions: General office work environment. Occasional errands require reliable transportation. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.


LOCATION: Seattle/Eastlake

Salary: FTE - Commensurate with experience with Excellent Employee Benefits Package.

Communications Intern

Reporting to the Vice President, Membership, the Communications Intern will help build the brand through traditional communications tactics, social media and digital efforts.



  • Assist in editing/managing LSW website and social media presence
  • Write and proofread copy for e-newsletter
  • Help maintain LSW’s mail chimp email database as needed
  • Evaluate current communications efforts and make adjustments or recommendations as needed
  • Assist in creating and developing event flyers, signage and announcements
  • Other duties as assigned


  • Experienced with social media marketing platforms
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to proof read documents
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with a high degree of professionalism
  • Must be able to anticipate project needs, discern work priorities, and meet deadlines with little supervision

Additional Information/Application Process:

  • Seattle/Eastlake location
  • Flexible schedule within 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. office hours; this is a paid internship.
